Scarlet Mistakes
I put the ring in my pocket after examining if it's the right piece. It has a chip. No one has to know. It swiftly settles under my silks as if craving the warmth wherever present. It's a red silk long frock. No one is gonna know.
Leaving the stupid party after dancing with two demure strangers and countless cocktails, I'm done to throw everything I took in. It has become a habit. To vomit. It's strange but it has been my friend since 17. Just a bad venomous friend.
I follow the back route and reach a cliff. Beyond and under expands the large deep blue sea which is shining black and white under this dancing moonlight. No tides today. I breathe and breathe but don't express the motions taking hold of my body. It's slow, peaceful to have in possession. The final key. The thing your life depends on. It's a do or die and how ironic of it to be in the form of a ring.
Someone is here. I can feel the heat. My sensors are on. They're on the vest below this maroon turtleneck. I touch my gun to be in the run if ever the chance. I breathe once more. And I turn back.
The pitch black eyes meet me back. Tall, lean and his shoelaces neatly done. It's shining. How fucking surprising of him to be here. I turn back to the ocean. Someone is looking better than him here. And it's me of course.
"Still the shame, Red?"
"It's not fucking shame asshole if its your whole identity you breathe in everyday. Check your lame metaphors first."
"Always coming after me with that gun mouth of yours. How long will i survive, have you ever given it a thought?" He turns and leans on the marble railing facing me now. He tilts his head waiting for an answer. A slow smile lining and cheering his face.
"And how long will i survive with this devilish game you're playing with me now. The fuck is on with the diamond." I scoff, never losing my cool.
"Oooh, so you know. Well...?" He smirks.
"For what would i be here attending this stupid party filled with jerks like you." I am waiting for an answer.
"Diamond is planning something again. And finally its the thing which has been on his mind for really long.
He wants something back. Interest with revenge." He looks straight in my eyes as he says the last line. I shuffle just a bit.
"Do you know?" He eyes me.
"How would i know when you're the one working for him all these years. You're not a rookie anymore. Trying to skin me with these questions won't get you any where." And i start walking back to my car.
I've got what i want and know what diamond wants now.
