The night we met
Little did I wondered about that christmas night. I stopped at the Richie bridge to see the city lights which glowed as if never shined as bright before. I was on my phone about to click the town picture when he approached me in a hurry. He was huffing and panting a lot when he told me to call on his this number on 22:07 dot. I was about to ask why when he held up a hand and told me that it was urgent anyway. Then he ran to the other side.
I called on the number at the dot time and after like 15 minutes he approached me, walking calmly, contrary to his previous state and thanked me for my help. I said it was no problem and he stood for a while with me watching the city lights. I wished him christmas in advance and didn't ask more on his mysterious call topic. I have no business in others' and I am fine moving on with the memory. He left waving goodbye and I felt swaying back to the time, a memory I remember about the only guy who ever waved at me in high school. I pocketed the moment for another day and I walked home.
The next day I was greeted by a post box at my doorstep with a note on the above reading 'merry christmas' with no assigned name but just a number which I realized to be of the boy I met yesternight. I walked up the present inside and opened to find a snowball with just snow falling inside and a tune playing which I recognized to be of a sober version of 'the night we met'. It was cute and I kept it at the desk beside the front door and left for my work.
It was strange receiving a gift from someone you helped in just giving a call. Maybe that call was that super essential for him. I wondered if we'll meet again when I did met him again at the night coffee shop two step away from my workplace. I was working overnight that day and had a dizzy head to be honest. When he approached I recognized that deep voice and we shaked hands. He was wearing a black suit from tip to toe and wore a hat which covered his face. This time I asked him about the call and he told me that I saved his life.
He was the ceo of a big sales company and some men of his enemy side had broke into his office. He ran out and found me and made a quick escape plan as he went back inside to save his colleagues. When he joked the men with an approved phone call of the police who were arriving now, the men flew for life. Then he when he left the bridge, he remembered not wishing christmas and sent the morning gift.
All the while I heard his story it all felt so unreal but I still managed to nod my head through. He bought me an extra coffee cup and we walked along for a while outside in the snow. When it was time we both based goodbye to each other.
Next Morning when I switched on the news, the scene of an accident of the same ceo flashed the screens. His car fell of a bridge into the deep sea and he couldn't survive the crash. When his car was searched and the crash was investigated, it turned out the steering was turned when he agreed to offer a lift late night to a menancing girl who lead to his peril. She asked for the lift and identified herself as Lily Pales. The screens flashed her picture and she looked just a twin of me. When I read the crash report displayed, the song playing in the car was 'the night we met' and I remember not telling him my name.
nice one
