The Accident: Prologue
Everything's done down.
The funeral done. Goodbyes' were said and people shed tears for the dead and none when they were alive.
Maybe death acts a message to love them till they're alive. It forces us to be kind. That's cool.
I sat at the corner bench under the tree in the graveyard until everyone was done and the empty surroundings come alive. Its so silent here. Maybe the dead don't make any noise from within or maybe I just can't hear it.
My brother is at work and then graveyard isn't far from my home. I can walk back alone. But then I feel that I'm not alone.
I turn to look back to find Carrie staring at me from behind the trees.
"Make it quick Carrie, I don't have much time."
She comes out in her dead clothes. At least being dead doesn't makes you buy new clothes. Why AM I suddenly stating the benefits of being dead? Sleep can do it single-handed.
Carrie comes in front and holds out her hand in a fist. There are scratch marks on her wrist. I didn't notice that before.
"Close your eyes and hold out your left hand" Carrie looks me in the eye and I do so.
Then she places a slimy metal thing on my hand. "Open it."
I open my eyes to see that Carrie's gone and she left a...necklace for me.
It's a black one with a small circular pendant reading "creepy things stay alive". So true.
I turn back to move ahead towards home. When I see it.
The lingering question mark.
Jaffer
Why is it always me?
