The Play

I slip on something and my bottoms hurt more than ever. I open my phone flashlight to see on what I skidded over and that's....BLOOD.

RUN.

I pull up to my feet with force on my hands and once I'm out of the area where the whole mess is splashed all over, I start sprinting.

I take the right turn to an open quadrant of the mansion and scream at the top of my lungs- THE MOON IS UP.

All the other squad members come running to their balcony spaces with a grave look on their face and shovels in their hands. We all exchange glances and then they drop their shovels down their balcony onto the quadrant area.

My heart beat gets louder and louder when I start hearing the smooth, heavy rushing footsteps of the imposter I just caught. He might be thinking he's still unknown but the truth can never stay hidden for long from the snoopers. I'm the snooper.

He is the shade as he comes to light and all the other squad members leave their places to disappear. Those deep black eyes of him say a lot more than before, and the straining on the forehead from the brows and the glimpse of clenching of his small shiny white teeth indicates back to that this is the moment when I and he first met.

"You cannot do this to me Regan, this was our plan. You cannot blame for the DEAD. You cannot blame me for the FAILURE. You cannot blame me for THIS MESS YOU HAVE PUT US INTO!"

"I AM NOT THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN THE IMPOSTER HERE MAC!"

          "I'M NOT THE IMPOSTER REG!"

"YES, YOU ARE!" I scream for the betrayal inside me. "You have been playing it all since the day one of this play and I have been moving around you like a fool since 10 days, since this play has started. I don't want to play it anymore, at least not with you. I'm leaving for the very last time and I'm never returning for this shit of yours. This is absolute HELL."

I flop down on the cemented floor as he hovers over, standing in front of me, blocking the black moon.

"At least you know now the truth."

I look up and into his eyes, unafraid of the latter coming. I get up on my knees to face him. Ready to say the actual truth.

"At least. I'm not ruined in the end again. I see who is." And snap the maple twig I held all along in the palm of my hand. Changing the ending.
